LOOKING BACK:  HOPS FOR HOPE 2007

Thanks to all who braved a blustery day to come out to "Hops for Hope" last year - though the weather outside was frightful, the promise of spring was in the room, along with a whole lot of chocolate and beer!

Hops_people Attendees enjoyed tasting hand-dipped chocolate-covered ginger, chai chocolates, and a wide selection of fair-trade and organic chocolates from Sunspire, Dagoba, Equal Exchange, Endangered Species Chocolate Company, Green & Black's, 3400 Phinney Chocolate Factory, Alter Eco, Trader Joe's and Seeds of Change. We sampled forest grown chocolate from the Conacado Cooperative in the Dominican Republic, Kuapa Kokoo Cooperative in Ghana, and El Ceibo Cooperative in Bolivia. Corner Brewery had a great line-up for us, including Old Number 22 Alt Bier, Brasserie Blonde Belgian-style ale, and Bavarian Bliss Hefenweizen.

hopscakewineThe silent auction featured Easter baskets filled with fair-trade chocolates and other goodies. We also raffled two chocolate bunny cakes made with all organic ingredients, and Green and Black's chocolate. All in all we raised 1.5K for the buns!

As always, remember to Make Mine Chocolate!

Sneak preview of some chocolates you might try:
Sjaak's Dark Chocolate Almond Butter Bites
Endangered Species Milk Chocolate Bug Bites or Dark Chocolate Chimp Mints
Sunspire White and Milk Chocolate Bunnies (hand-made!)
Green and Black's Caramel Milk Chocolate
Alter Eco Crystallized Orange Chocolate
Equal Exchange Espresso Dark Chocolate
Divine Milk Chocolate

Many thanks to our generous donors!
